On January 30, the NFL announced that the salary cap figure for each team would be $224.8 million in 2023. According to updates from OverTheCap.com, the San Francisco 49ers have been hovering around $8 million in salary cap space. The team currently owns $8.16 million in salary cap space, per the site.

The NFL team with the most salary cap space is the Chicago Bears, currently listed at about $93.5 million. They are followed by the Atlanta Falcons ($56.5 million) and New York Giants ($47.5 million).

OverTheCap.com lists 14 teams over the upcoming salary cap limit. Those teams will have until the start of the new league year on March 15 to get under the $224.8 million limit. The New Orleans Saints are currently listed at $60.35 million over the cap, the most by any team in the NFL.

The 49ers own the third-lowest cap space among teams currently under the upcoming $224.8 million limit. The Philadelphia Eagles own $4.36 million in salary cap space, while the Pittsburgh Steelers are $1.03 million below the limit.
