On Monday, the San Francisco 49ers agreed to a one-year deal with veteran quarterback Sam Darnold. On Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Media shared some of the contract details.

Darnold will sign a deal with a base value of $4.5 million, including $3.5 million guaranteed.


Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated provided a more thorough breakdown of Darnold's contract, revealing up to $7 million in incentives.


By comparison, third-year quarterback Trey Lance will count $9.3 million against the salary cap, while second-year quarterback Brock Purdy will count just $889,253.


Darnold joins the 49ers after a season with the Carolina Panthers and three seasons with the New York Jets. The Jets made the former USC player the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
