According to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network, former Appalachian State cornerback Steven Jones Jr. recently visited with the San Francisco 49ers.

With the 2023 NFL Draft just two weeks away, the 49ers are still doing homework on potential cornerbacks. The team's defensive back room took a hit when Emmanuel Moseley, Jimmie Ward, and Tarvarius Moore departed in free agency. Ward, naturally a safety, played last season in the 49ers' nickel corner role, a spot that might be ideal for Jones.

San Francisco added Isaiah Oliver this offseason. He might be the frontrunner to take over in the slot, but the 49ers could be looking to add depth there.

In 2022, Jones (5-10, 180) recorded 45 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, a sack, and 15 passes defensed through 12 games as a senior with the Mountaineers. He has registered 113 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, six interceptions, and 27 passes defensed over the past three seasons.
