Wicks missed the entire 2020 season due to a foot injury. He bounced back the next season, hauling in 57 receptions for a single-season school-record 1,203 receiving yards, adding nine touchdowns and earning first-team All-ACC honors.
"Wicks proved in 2021 that he has a set of skills to threaten defenses with big-play potential, but he's coming off a disappointing 2022 season," wrote Lance Zierlein of NFL.com in his scouting report. "Focus drops have been an issue for him over the last two seasons, but they seemed to impact his overall confidence in 2022. He lacks attention to detail as a route runner but it is worth noting that he finds ways to separate with instincts and pure athleticism. Wicks has talent to cultivate, but gaining the confidence of a GM, head coach or quarterback must start with catching the football more consistently."
Wicks is from Plaquemine, LA. He earned a pre-draft grade of 5.89 from NFL.com, which equates to an "average backup or special-teams player," per the site's 8-point grading scale.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-1 and 206-pound Wicks had a 40-time of 4.62 seconds, a vertical jump of 39 inches, and a broad jump of 130 inches. His other measurables include an arm length of 32 3/8 inches and hands measuring 10 inches.
