With over 80 tight ends attending last year, there is a quarterback need for the on-field sessions this year. One of those players will be third-year quarterback Trey Lance. Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills will join him.
"We got some great quarterbacks coming in—Josh Allen, Trey Lance," Kittle said this week on ESPN Chicago's Waddle & Silvy show. "It's going to be a good one. It'll be really fun down there in Nashville."
Lance was also invited to throw at last year's Tight End University.
The 49ers made Lance the No. 3 overall pick in 2021. With Brock Purdy sidelined, Lance will split offseason reps with another former No. 3 overall pick, Sam Darnold.
Despite entering his third NFL season, Lance has started only four games since joining the league. He served as Jimmy Garoppolo's backup in 2021, starting two games as a rookie. Lance entered the 2022 season as the 49ers' starting quarterback but suffered a season-ending ankle injury during Week 2.
Purdy is recovering from the March 10 surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) tear in his right elbow. His recovery is expected to span most—if not all—of the offseason.
