Day 4 of the San Francisco 49ers training camp is officially over, as head coach Kyle Shanahan conducted a shorter practice during the last session before pads come on Monday.

After a few practices where the defense held the upper hand, the offense shined on Day 4, with quarterbacks Trey Lance and Sam Darnold splitting first-team reps as Brock Purdy had a scheduled rest day.

For a full breakdown of Day 4, listen to our podcast recapping every detail I saw during Day 4 of training camp, from the quarterbacks to standout players to those to keep an eye out for and more.

Trey and Sam's Day

With Brock Purdy not practicing due to a scheduled rest day, Trey Lance and Sam Darnold were the top quarterbacks and enjoyed their strongest performances to date.

An area of importance on Sunday were throws with quick drop steps. Here's video of Lance and Darnold both practicing that key type of throw.

Charvarius Ward

Charvarius Ward appeared to hurt himself during practice Sunday, and was pulled after being involved in individual drills early on. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed after practice that Ward is dealing with a groin injury, which plagued him at times last year.

Here's Ward working on the side at practice following the injury.

Rookie and the Vet

Talanoa Hufanga and Ji'Ayir Brown continued their trend of hitting the practice field early on Sunday, and the All-Pro safety was videoed sharing some tips to the rookie safety.

John Lynch and Greg Papa

The 49ers general manager made an appearance at Sunday's practice, hyping up the fans ahead of the 2023 season, where announcer Greg Papa had a message to share as well.
