Day 9 of the San Francisco 49ers training camp is officially over, as it was a light practice, with the energy level lowered after a long practice on Friday, with Brock Purdy taking a rest day, allowing Trey Lance and Sam Darnold to work with the first-team offense.

It was an underwhelming start for the quarterbacks, but Trey Lance finished strong, ending with a deep touchdown pass to Willie Snead on an incredible catch for a touchdown.

Here were the standout players from Day 9, which I talked about in-depth when recapping the day of practice in our podcast down below.

RB Tyrion Davis-Price

Tyrion Davis-Price continues to stack good days, standing out yet again with another solid day of work.

I charted several rushes of over five yards on the day for Davis-Price, whose growth from Year 1 to Year 2 has been dramatic, setting himself up for a good year as a backup to Christian McCaffrey.

Davis-Price was especially impressive during the move-the-ball period, working with both the first and second-team offenses and seeing success on his three carries, earning 4, 10, and 7 yards on carries, respectively.

You could make an argument for him to be the top backup to McCaffrey this season, even over Jordan Mason, and his teammates have shared nothing short of praise for the former third-rounder.

LT Leroy Watson

Leroy Watson was a player that I was high on during the OTAs period, but really only could be judged starting in training camp, as I wasn't personally there to see his development.

Needless to say, I've been surprised with what I've seen in an underwhelming swing tackle battle between him, Jaylon Moore, and Matt Pryor.

Speaking with Marco Martinez on the podcast today, we agreed that Watson looks the part and flashed again on Saturday, and has objectively had the stranglehold on the swing tackle role.

With Moore injured and Pryor not looking great, Watson seems primed for a roster spot, and potentially even more down the line, maybe even following in a Colton McKivitz-esque path.

DL Taco Charlton

Taco Charlton continues to be a contributor, adding to a solid performance thus far in training camp on Saturday with a few 1-on-1 wins, as well as consistent play on the edge.

Charlton, standing at 6'6, 260-pounds, has very favorable measurables, and those serve well for Kris Kocurek reclamation projects, as he could be versatile and work on the inside as well.

It needs to be noted that Charlton primarily plays on the second and third-team defenses predominantly, but it's still important to see positive reps, which the defensive end has provided.

CB Samuel Womack

Samuel Womack continues to impress in his second training camp session, making a few nice plays in coverage on Saturday, breaking up a deep pass intended for Ray-Ray McCloud, while having really tight coverage on a phenomenal catch by Willie Snead on the last play of the day.

Womack has normally been sticky in coverage, not letting players behind him, and should benefit from being blitzed by Steve Wilks when on the field, making him a solid scheme fit.

The 49ers' cornerback has been solidified as the top backup to Charvarius Ward and Deommodore Lenoir, which seems like the proper role for him with Isaiah Oliver firm in the nickel role(more on him in a minute).

CB Isaiah Oliver

Isaiah Oliver has passed the eye test, which continued on Saturday, as the slot cornerback seems fully in place as the starter, which was the expectation when he signed a one-year deal this offseason.

Oliver has seen some tough battles in the slot, as the 49ers have debuted both Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel in that role on certain occasions, but overall has held his ground, and should be a solid scheme fit, especially when being placed in a blitzing role out of the slot.

Oliver needs to continue developing rapport with the rest of the unit, but he hasn't been a negative for sure so far.
