Head coach Kyle Shanahan has not finalized the plan for his starters on Saturday in the preseason game against the Denver Broncos. The San Francisco 49ers are coming off a preseason loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, in which Trey Lance, Sam Darnold, and Brandon Allen shared playing time.

The plan may be similar this weekend, but with Darnold starting the game. Lance was on the field first against the Raiders.

Shanahan hopes to give his starters playing time. How much remains uncertain. Will that include Brock Purdy, the 49ers' quarterback who underwent offseason surgery on his throwing arm?

"I haven't decided yet with all the starters," Shanahan responded, noting that he wants to wait until this week's practices have concluded before finalizing any decisions.

If Purdy doesn't play, fans are unlikely to see him during the preseason. This week, the 49ers removed the restriction preventing the second-year quarterback from participating in more than two consecutive practices, even if there was a day off between them. Barring any recovery setbacks, Purdy remains on track to be the team's Week 1 starter.
