On Wednesday, Bosa and the 49ers agreed to a five-year, $170 million contract extension. The pass rusher returned to the Bay Area on Wednesday night, rejoining his teammates on Thursday morning.

Bosa did not practice on Thursday, though. Instead, he worked with a team trainer in the weight room and on the side as the 49ers conducted practice. San Francisco has one practice remaining, a typically lighter Friday session, before traveling to Pittsburgh for their Week 1 matchup against the Steelers.
The Niners won't need the roster exemption for long. Bosa is expected to play in the 49ers' regular-season opener, moving to the active roster beforehand.
