"I think he's getting back into football shape, getting back into his groove," head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Monday via a conference call. "I thought he got better and stronger throughout the game, similar to last week in that aspect. I thought he finished the game real strong and took a step forward from Pittsburgh."
Bosa earned Pro Football Focus' highest grade from the game. He didn't reach Matthew Stafford, but much of that was due to the Rams quarterback's quick release. However, Bosa was still effective, finishing the game with five total pressures, three quarterback hits, and two hurries.
Bosa also feels like he's starting to get into a groove. The pass rusher missed all of training camp and the preseason while holding out for a new contract. He signed just days ahead of Week 1.
"I feel good," Bosa said after Sunday's win. "I think I needed a couple of games to get my body into football shape, for sure. You can't simulate it. I think now that I'm through two and I've had some pretty good output for this one, I think I'm only going to be up from here."
The 49ers have a quick turnaround this week. Their next game is on Thursday when they host the New York Giants at Levi's Stadium, the team's home opener. Bosa hopes to make some corrections in time for that contest.
"I'll watch the tape," Bosa said. "I think I improved from last week, for sure. I was a little more comfortable. I had some answers to some of the things that were thrown at me. And definitely some things I want to work on, which is tough, especially [with a] Thursday night [game up next]. But I'm happy we won."
