According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the San Francisco 49ers are signing cornerback Anthony Brown to a one-year deal, adding him to the 53-man roster.

On Saturday, the 49ers placed cornerback Samuel Womack (MCL) on injured reserve. Cornerback Ambry Thomas is dealing with a knee injury sustained during Sunday's win over the Los Angeles Rams.

As noted by Schefter, Brown is coming off the torn Achilles suffered in Week 13 of the 2022 season with the Dallas Cowboys, an injury that landed him on injured reserve on December 10, 2022. He was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad in August and released on September 14.

The Cowboys made Brown (5-11, 192) a sixth-round selection (No. 189 overall) out of Purdue in 2016. He registered 42 tackles, a tackle for a loss, seven passes defensed, and a forced fumble through 12 starts with the Cowboys last season, per Pro Football Reference.

Brown, 29, has recorded 324 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, six quarterback hits, four sacks, 59 passes defensed, nine interceptions, a touchdown, and five forced fumbles in 94 game appearances (69 starts) through his seven NFL seasons.
