Aiyuk suffered a shoulder injury on his first catch, a 13-yard reception during San Francisco's opening drive. He was in and out of the lineup throughout the game and was limited during the 49ers' light Tuesday practice.
On Tuesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan said that the decision will come down to how Aiyuk feels and the evaluation from the training staff. It sounds like the receiver may end up being a game-time decision.
"I think, with Brandon, with these Thursday night games, they're a quick turnaround," general manager John Lynch said Wednesday during an interview on KNBR's "Murph and Mac" show. "So he clearly got something irritated in his chest/shoulder area. He's working really hard to try to get ready. And with these Thursday night games, you take it all the way down there. You don't have to make your inactives until Thursday.
"So Brandon's working really hard. He's a warrior. You can see it in his play. He's having fun because I think everything's starting to click for him. So I know he's a guy who doesn't want to miss [a game]. We clearly won't put him out there if it's not in his best interest, but I think that situation is very fluid."
The other injury the media is watching is that of Ambry Thomas. The cornerback is dealing with a knee injury, also sustained in Sunday's game.
"We're still working through it with him," Lynch said of Thomas. "Again, these guys, even the guys that are healthy, it's a quick turnaround getting your body ready for a Thursday night game. Ambry came out a little sore, was proud of his fight, went back in there late in the game.
"He's doing better. And again, he's a guy we'll see in the coming days if he's ready. It would help us to have him. Ambry's really made a big jump as a player, and we'd love to have him, but we just got to see if he can get there."
