The San Francisco 49ers recently worked out a familiar face. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team took a look at cornerback Jason Verrett, who spent 2019 through 2022 with the Niners. However, multiple injuries limited his ability to contribute to the defense consistently.

Wilson reports that San Francisco also worked out defensive backs Xavier Crawford, Michael Ojemudia, who was signed to the Los Angeles Rams practice squad, and Kendall Sheffield.

The 49ers are currently playing the New York Giants at Levi's Stadium. As part of its pre-game roster moves, the team promoted cornerback Tre Swilling from the practice squad to the active roster and temporarily promoted cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles from the practice squad.

San Francisco recently placed cornerback Samuel Womack on injured reserve due to an MCL injury. Cornerback Ambry Thomas is inactive against the Giants due to a knee injury.
