San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey reached a career milestone on Thursday Night Football, surpassing the 5,000-yard mark as a rusher against the New York Giants.

Coming into the game, McCaffrey entered with 4,994 rushing yards, accomplishing the 5,000-yard feat on his second carry of the game, which came at the 13:30 mark in the first quarter on Thursday.

The running back has been on a tear to begin the season, rushing for 152 and 116 yards, respectively, in the 49ers' first two games, which earned him the Fedex Ground Player of the Week award in each of the first two weeks off the season.

It took McCaffrey 78 career games to reach the 5,000-yard marker, and his 14th with the 49ers.

Seen as a strong rushing and receiving threat as a running back, McCaffrey also has 3,792 receiving yards over his career, meaning another milestone may potentially be on the way.

But, for now, congratulations to the star running back on breaking the 5,000-yard barrier, with more to come in a 49ers uniform.
