Tackle Trent Williams remains sidelined since sustaining what was initially reported as a low-ankle sprain on October 15 against the Cleveland Browns. He is not expected to participate in practice. However, the 49ers hope Williams can practice on Thursday.
When asked if there is more going on with Williams' injury than a low-ankle sprain, Shanahan responded, "Yeah, I think obviously there is. I mean, he's got a lot of history in there with stuff. It didn't show up as a high or anything like that, but when you've had that over your career, there's a number of things that, with how it's taken longer than expected to heal, it's more than a low."
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel will be a full participant in Wednesday's practice. He is returning from a hairline fracture in his shoulder. After sitting out the last two games, Samuel participated in Monday's bonus practice.
When asked about his recovery timeline this week, Samuel stated, "They told me, like two, three, four weeks, whatever, however my body was going to react to it, and I think my body reacted very great to it."
He affirmed, "I'm as healthy as I can get."
Guard Aaron Banks (turf toe) and wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud (illness) also will not practice on Wednesday. Defensive end Drake Jackson will be limited due to a knee issue.
