This past Sunday, the 49ers lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the regular season for the first time since 2018. With the two teams really having nothing to play for, this game had more of a preseason feel. Neither team wanted to show anything to tip their hand for the playoffs, but it was an excellent opportunity to evaluate some depth players.

On defense, many fans were upset with defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, but they must bear in mind the Rams came out with a zone-read heavy offense—something they haven't utilized in McVay's time with the team. It felt like they wanted to plaster the film with something they installed that week to create more work for the Detroit Lions, as it's something they now have to prepare for.

This week, I've looked at some players who had less-than-stellar performances against the Rams and will be in positions to keep an eye on as the team moves forward.
