The San Francisco 49ers are poised to enter the 2024 NFL Draft with a substantial number of picks, as projected by salary cap site OverTheCap.com. General manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan are expected to have 11 selections, including four compensatory picks, in April's event.

Here is the breakdown of the anticipated selections for the 49ers:

Being one of the four remaining teams in the playoffs means the 49ers will make their first pick late on Thursday, April 25, the first day of the three-day draft.

OverTheCap.com explained the compensatory pick projection, indicating that the 49ers are expected to receive a third-round selection for the departure of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, a fifth-round pick for the departure of defensive end Samson Ebukam, and sixth-round picks for safety Jimmie Ward and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.

While cornerback Emmanuel Moseley leaving qualifies in the formula, teams can only be awarded up to four compensatory picks for player departures.

The signing of defensive tackle Javon Hargrave offset the departure of tackle Mike McGlinchey. The additions of quarterback Sam Darnold, cornerback Isaiah Oliver, and defensive end Clelin Ferrell canceled out defensive end Charles Omenihu, guard Daniel Brunskill, and defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway leaving.

In the move to acquire defensive end Chase Young, San Francisco traded the compensatory pick it was slated to receive for the departures of former defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans (now Texans head coach) and former director of player personnel Ran Carthon (now Titans GM).

The additional fourth-round selection comes from the trade that sent quarterback Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys. The 49ers acquired an extra seventh-round draft pick in the deal for defensive end Randy Gregory, sending their own sixth-round pick to the Denver Broncos for the player.

San Francisco's fifth-round draft pick went to the Carolina Panthers as part of the trade for running back Christian McCaffrey.
