According to the NFL transaction wire, the San Francisco 49ers have opened the practice window for defensive tackle Kalia Davis by updating his injury status to "reserve/injured; designated to return."

Davis was placed on the injured reserve list on December 20 due to a high-ankle sprain. While practice windows typically provide 21 days to activate a player off the injured reserve list, Super Bowl 58 is scheduled in 18 days.

It's also plausible that the 49ers could activate Davis ahead of this Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Detroit Lions.

San Francisco selected Davis (6-2, 310) in the sixth round (No. 220 overall) from UCF in the 2022 NFL Draft. He has recorded a tackle, a tackle for a loss, a quarterback hit, and a sack in three game appearances this season, per Pro Football Reference.

Davis, 25, did not play during his rookie season after landing on the reserve/non-football injury list on August 23, 2022.
