The 49ers enter the Super Bowl in good health.
"Guys have worked hard these two weeks," Shanahan said via pool reporter Nicki Jhabvala. "The guys who have been banged up, they've done everything possible to be healthy for this game. It's our first time everyone is full and healthy. It's the right game to have it that way."
Practices were held at UNLV. While there were some complaints about the field conditions earlier in the week, the team refused to use it as an excuse, pressing on and preparing for whatever the Chiefs might throw at them.
The week leading up to the Super Bowl can be distracting for a young team, and Las Vegas offers plenty to divert your focus. However, the 49ers are a veteran team, with several players still haunted by the heartbreaking defeat in the big game just four years ago.
"I think the guys have done a real good job," Shanahan said. "Just having the experience of being here before, some of the things we've been through, some of the leaders we have. We have a very football-oriented team, and it's really good in situations like this."
Final Preparations
The 49ers gathered for a walk-through at noon on Saturday, their last chance to physically run through the game plan before the game. After that, they will have an opportunity to spend time with family before reconvening for their team meeting in the evening.
While Shanahan and his coaching staff will continue to work on contingency plans throughout the day, preparing for any unexpected scenarios the Chiefs might present, the bulk of the work is complete.
"Our guys are ready to go," Shanahan said after the walk-through. "They're relaxed. They'll relax a little this afternoon, have our last meetings tonight, and we'll be ready to go."
