It's mock draft season, and here is version 3.0, after the NFL Scouting Combine and before free agency. Here's how the 49ers may approach the NFL Draft before making any moves in free agency. I used the Pro Football Network Mock Draft Simulator in this process.

Round 1, Pick 31
Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

The 49ers may need more options to address the tackle position in free agency. With their first pick at 31, the San Francisco 49ers select Amarius Mims. Mims is raw, but his measurements stand out amongst most tackles. Although he was injured during his 40-yard dash, he would be a great selection to sure up the right side of the offensive line.

Mims is listed as 6'8" and 340 lbs, with 36 1/8" arms and 11 1/4" hands. He ran a 5.07 40 time with a 1.78 10-yard split. He plays with excellent technique and has great hand placement. In 2023, Mims only played in eight games and allowed only one pressure, a quarterback hurry against Tennessee. It's time to protect the franchise by drafting Amarius Mims.


Round 2, Pick 63
Braden Fiske, DT, Florida State

Braden Fiske is known for his relentless motor and, more importantly, his get-off. Fiske has the athleticism and speed to rush the quarterback. Fiske is not just a pass-rushing tackle. Of his 29 total tackles, 26 were stops. Fiske is listed as 6'4", 292 lbs, with 31" arms and 9 3/8" hands. He was the star of the show at the 2024 NFL Combine, running a 4.78 (number one of the defensive tackles) in the 40-yard Dash with a 1.68 10-yard split. He jumped 33.5" in the vertical and 9'9" in the broad jump.

Fiske also ran a 4.37 in the 20-yard Shuttle. He is explosive and gets off the snap, quickly beating his man to get to the quarterback. Braden Fiske lined up next to Javon Hargrove, could be an unstoppable force for the 49ers in 2024.

Round 3, Pick 94
Johnny Wilson, WR, Florida State

Johnny Wilson has an 84.5" wingspan, the longest ever recorded by a wide receiver. He's listed at 6'6", 231 lbs, with 35 3/8" arms and 10". Wilson ran a 4.52 in the 40-yard dash, with a 1.55 10-yard split. His vertical jump was 37", and his broad jump was 10'8". His catch radius would be bar none for the 49ers and give Purdy a bigger target to throw to.


In 2023, Wilson was targeted 70 times and caught 41 passes (58.6%), with only five drops. He recorded 617 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson is big and physical and likes to block.

Round 3, Pick 98
Khyree Jackson, CB, Oregon

Khyree Jackson is a unique, versatile corner who could play outside or inside in the NFL. He only played in 14 games, so his play has some inconsistencies, but his measurements are what's most intriguing. Jackson is listed as 6'4", 194 lbs, with 32 3/4" arms and 9 1/4" hands. He has a wingspan of 78". Jackson ran a 4.50 40-yard dash (22nd amongst cornerbacks) with a 1.50 10-yard split (8th amongst cornerbacks). His vertical jump (36.5") ranked him 17th among corners, and his broad jump (11'1") ranked him third amongst cornerbacks.

In 2023, Jackson's stats included six total pressures (two sacks and four hurries), 33 tackles, and 12 for loss. He was targeted 38 times and allowed 19 receptions (50%). Jackson caught three interceptions, one touchdown, and recorded eight pass breakups. His ability to play press-man would be handy for the 49ers, but his close-out speed is most impressive.

Round 4, Pick 125
Christian Mahogany, OG, Boston College


Christian Mahogany is listed at 6'3", 314 lbs, with 33 1/2" arms and 10 1/2" hands. He tested well at the scouting combine, running a 5.13 in the 40-yard Dash with a 1.74 10-yard split. Mahogany ran a 7.81 in the three-cone drill and a 4.53 in the 20-yard shuttle. His vertical jump was 32.5", and his broad jump was 9'1". The film on Mahogany is mean, and the 49er's offensive line could use a jolt of mean aggressiveness from Mahogany.

In 2023, Mahogany allowed seven pressures, all quarterback hurries. With the offensive line-heavy draft, the 49ers could upgrade the offensive by selecting the right pieces that fit the zone/power head coach Kyle Shanahan likes to run. Mahogany is a mean brother from outer space, and he's terrible.

Round 4, Pick 132
Daequan Hardy, CB, Penn State

This nickel back would be an excellent selection for the 49ers. Daequan Hardy is 5'9" and 179 lbs, with 30" arms and 8 1/8" hands. Hardy ran a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash with a 1.50 10-yard split. He jumped 42.5" in the vertical jump and 10'6" in the broad jump. He scored second (88) in the athleticism score per the NFL Combine among cornerbacks. Hardy is a great gunner on special teams and has two returned punts on special teams.

In 2023, Hardy recorded four total pressures (one sack and three hurries), 24 tackles, and seven for loss. He was targeted 48 times and allowed 26 receptions (54.2%) for 318 yards. Hardy intercepted two passes and had two touchdowns. He would start immediately on special teams, and if he performs well in camp, he could start at the nickel back position for the 49ers.


Round 5, Pick 176 (the money round)
Devin Culp, TE, Washington

The last time the 49ers drafted a tight end in the fifth round, he was an All-Pro. The 49ers can draft a speedy tight end out of Washington named Devin Culp. At the NFL Scouting Combine, Culp's performance was smooth. Culp ran a 4.47 in the 40-yard dash with a 1.55 10-yard split. His athleticism score is 92, ranking first among tight ends at the 2024 NFL Combine. He's an average blocker but can vertically get down the field and force the defense to cover him.

In 2023, Culp was targeted 23 times for 16 receptions (69.6%), 208 yards, and two touchdowns. He has 12 drops throughout his five seasons at Washington but only had one drop in 2023. Culp's speed would add a different dimension to Kyle Shanahan's offense and make the offense look a lot less predictable. Culp could be a great option in 12 Personnel for the 49ers.

Round 6, Pick 214
Brennan Jackson, Edge, Washington State

The 49ers need to address the defensive line, and they can do that later in the draft. Brennan Jackson is listed as 6'4" and 264 lbs with 32 3/4" arms and 9 3/4" hands. He ran a 4.69 in the 40-yard dash with a 1.62 10-yard split. He jumped 33.5" in the vertical jump and 9'6" in the broad jump. Jackson has a great get-off and a relentless motor. He never takes a playoff.


In 2023, Jackson had 40 pressures (nine sacks, five hits, and 26 hurries). He had three batted-down passes with 46 tackles, 24 for a loss. He is a machine, and the 49ers could use a relentless pass rusher out on the edge.

Round 6, Pick 215
Edefuan Ulofoshio, LB, Washington

If the 49ers want a tackling machine that covers, it's Edefuan Ulofoshio. Ulofoshio scored an 81 on his athleticism score, ranking him 5th among linebackers at the NFL Scouting Combine. He ran a 4.56 40-yard dash with a 1.59 10-yard split. He jumped 39.5" in the vertical and 10'8" in the broad jump. He can take on blocks but sometimes finds himself out of position.

In 2023, he recorded 93 tackles and 40 for a loss. He had ten pressures (three sacks, one hit, and six hurries). He was targeted 35 times, allowing 22 receptions (62.9%). Ulofoshio forced a fumble, intercepted a pass, and had three pass breakups in 2023. I'm not saying he will start next to All-Pro Fred Warner, but it would be a great scenario to want to be in, and he would be able to compete for a spot due to the injury of Dre Greenlaw.

Round 6, Pick 237
Jase McClellan, RB, Alabama


Although the 49ers don't need to draft a running back, they may want to look at Alabama's Jase McClellan. McClellan is 5'11" and 212 lbs. His size and frame make him durable to run the ball up the middle, but he also has the speed to get to the outside. In 2023, he rushed for 888 yards on 181 attempts, averaging 4.9 yards per attempt. He scored eight touchdowns and had 26 explosive runs out of the backfield. McClellan also caught 14 passes on 17 targets (82.4%) for 139 yards. He's a balanced running that moves the ball and the chains. Perhaps coach Bobby Turner has his eye on the Alabama prospect.

Round 7, Pick 249
Devin Leary, QB, Kentucky

Although Leary didn't have one of the best final seasons at Kentucky, he was the most efficient quarterback at the 2024 NFL Combine. He threw the ball with fantastic touch and recorded the cleanest throws among the quarterbacks at the NFL Combine. Kyle Shanahan prides his offense on accuracy and efficiency, which is what Devin Leary brings to the table.
