If you counted 11 there, more on that in a second.
San Francisco's first selection comes at No. 31 overall in the first round. The 49ers have been without a first-round pick since the 2021 draft due to the valuable selections being part of the trade package to move up and select quarterback Trey Lance.
The 49ers' first compensatory pick awarded falls in the third round, at No. 99 overall. The team acquired the selection as part of the NFL's minority-hiring initiative for coaches and executives. San Francisco lost defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans and director of player personnel Ran Carthon last year. The Houston Texans hired Ryans as their head coach, while the Tennessee Titans hired Carthon as their general manager.
However, that third-round compensatory selection was traded to the Washington Commanders this past season for defensive end Chase Young. If Young departs in free agency, the Niners will likely earn another compensatory pick in 2025.
Draft picks have been updated due to later changes to the compensatory picks. The 49ers also traded pick No. 232 in the seventh round (via Broncos) to the Houston Texans for DT Maliek Collins.
San Francisco currently owns the following 10 selections in the upcoming draft:
- Round 1, Pick 31 Overall
- Round 2, Pick 63 Overall
- Round 3, Pick 94 Overall
- Round 4, Pick 124 Overall (via Cowboys)
- Round 4, Pick 131 Overall
- Round 4, Pick 132 Overall (Compensatory)
- Round 5, Pick 176 Overall (Compensatory)
- Round 6, Pick 211 Overall (Compensatory)
- Round 6, Pick 215 Overall (Compensatory)
- Round 7, Pick 251 Overall
The 49ers owned two selections acquired via trades with the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos. The fourth-round selection was acquired in the trade that sent Lance to the Cowboys ahead of the 2023 season. The seventh-round pick was part of the deal with Denver to acquire defensive end Randy Gregory, which involved sending the 49ers' sixth-round pick to the Broncos. That pick was traded to the Houston Texans for defensive tackle Maliek Collins.
San Francisco's fifth-round draft pick was traded to the Carolina Panthers as part of the deal for running back Christian McCaffrey.
The 2024 NFL Draft is scheduled for Thursday, April 25, through Saturday, April 27.
