Justin Melo of The Draft Network reports that the San Francisco 49ers will host Washington State cornerback Chau Smith-Wade on a pre-draft visit in Santa Clara.

"Smith-Wade is one of the most versatile CBs in the 2024 NFL Draft," Melo wrote.

"I've been doing a lot of virtual meetings," Smith-Wade recently told Melo. "I have in-person visits coming up with the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants. We're also in the process of setting up meetings with a few other organizations. We're just waiting for those details to be solidified. I also had formal interviews at the NFL Combine with the 49ers and Buccaneers. I met with all 32 teams at the Senior Bowl as well."

Smith-Wade registered 35 tackles, two tackles for a loss, and six passes defensed through seven game appearances as a senior in 2023, per Sports Reference. Over his four collegiate seasons with the Cougars, he recorded 103 tackles, six tackles for a loss, 17 passes defensed, three interceptions, and three forced fumbles.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 5' 9 3/4" and 184-pound Smith-Wade posted a 40-yard dash time of 4.54 seconds, a vertical jump of 34.5 inches, a broad jump of 10 feet, 5 inches, a 7.05-second three-cone drill time, 18 reps in the bench press, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.32 seconds. His other measurables include an arm length of 30 1/4 inches and hands measuring 9 1/8 inches.

"I want to immediately establish myself on special teams," Smith-Wade declared. "That might come first and foremost. Years from now, I also want to establish that I was the best cornerback, the most versatile defensive back in the 2024 NFL Draft. That's what I'm hoping to put on display at the next level."
