Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, a Houston-based media outlet, reports that the San Francisco 49ers have either completed or scheduled a meeting with former Ohio State defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr.

The Athletic projects Hall to be a second or third-round draft pick. The defensive lineman tallied 24 tackles, including two for a loss, and 1.5 sacks over 12 game appearances during his senior year in 2023, per Sports Reference. Throughout his collegiate career, he recorded 45 tackles, including 10 for a loss, and six sacks across three seasons with the Buckeyes.

"With his first-step burst and lateral agility, Hall quickly gets vertical and is a tough player to handle one-on-one," The Athletic's Dane Brugler wrote in his draft profile of the player. "He uses his long arms and natural leverage to work underneath blocks, although his lack of size and anchor put him in compromised positions, especially versus the run.

"Overall, Hall was more of a flash player than consistent force, but his quick-twitch movements and natural energy are the ingredients of a disruptive gap penetrator. If he stays healthy, he will be an immediate rotation player and eventual starting three-technique tackle in a four-man front."

The 49ers revamped their defensive line in free agency and may seek to bolster depth through the draft. While the team allowed defensive tackle Arik Armstead to depart, they traded for Maliek Collins and signed Jordan Elliott. Allowing Chase Young to leave in free agency, San Francisco reinforced the edges with the signings of Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos.

At 6-foot-3 and 290 pounds, some analysts raise concerns about Hall's size as he enters the NFL.

"Hall needs to add mass but should compete for a backup role early on and has immediate sub-rush potential as a 3-technique in a one-gapping scheme," wrote NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein.
