Barrows wrote, "Meanwhile, a report in March indicated that USC receiver Brenden Rice, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, would visit the 49ers, but he didn't end up coming, according to two league sources."
Justin Melo of The Draft Network first reported that the 49ers planned to host Rice for a pre-draft visit. The receiver did meet with the team at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Barrows added, "Another player linked to the 49ers, Oregon safety/linebacker Jamal Hill, also did not visit."
Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report and The Draft Network first reported Hill's scheduled visit to Santa Clara.
While Rice and Hill did not tour the 49ers' facilities, Kevin Maher reported that the team conducted a phone interview with former New Hampshire running back Dylan Laube.
In 2022, Laube rushed for 1,205 yards, amassed 464 receiving yards, and scored 17 total touchdowns. Continuing his success in 2023, he recorded 715 rushing yards, 699 receiving yards, and 18 touchdowns as a senior.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 5-foot-10 and 206-pound Laube posted a 40-yard dash time of 4.54 seconds, a vertical jump of 37 inches, a broad jump of 9 feet, 10 inches, a 6.84-second three-cone drill time, 23 reps on the bench press, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.02 seconds.
