San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed reporters after the second day of the 2024 NFL Draft. Naturally, they were asked about any trade discussions the team might have had during the draft so far.

Speculation arose that the 49ers might consider trading wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel. Samuel's name was the focus of trade rumors heading into Day 2. Lynch affirmed that they did not entertain any offers.

"We're happy with our wide receiver group," Lynch said. "Actually, more than happy. We're really thrilled with it and thrilled to have added [Florida WR] Ricky [Pearsall] to that group and even make it stronger."

When asked if the 49ers intend to keep Aiyuk and Samuel on the roster this season, Shanahan responded, "Same intentions the way yesterday was. ... We love those guys. We thought they'd be on our team yesterday. Still do. And we still always listen to everybody until the end of ..."

Shanahan paused, choosing not to finish the sentence to avoid providing reporters with another potential quote that might be misconstrued, dominating headlines and social media.

"I don't want to give a bad quote for you guys," Shanahan remarked. "I almost did it again. But yeah, that doesn't change yesterday, today, tomorrow, ever."

San Francisco will return to work on Saturday morning with six more draft picks remaining. The fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft kicks off at 9 a.m. PT.
