The San Francisco 49ers drafted Kingston in the sixth round, which has forced the offensive lineman to shift his NFL allegiance. He acknowledges that his family and friends in Anderson are thrilled about his opportunity with the Bay Area team.
"I have a bunch of—pretty much all my high school buddies are all 49ers fans," Jarrett told reporters on Thursday.
While smiling, he noted, "Now, I'm a huge 49ers fan."
Reflecting on his past Rams fandom, Kingston explained, "I wasn't forced to be a Rams fan. I kind of grew up being a Rams fan. And then I was also a USC fan growing up, and I followed [LB] Clay Matthews his whole college career and then followed him to the Packers. I'm also a Packers fan."
Quickly realizing the implications of his statement on his new team's fanbase, Kingston corrected himself, saying, "Not anymore. I was a Packers fan."
Kingston spent three seasons at Washington State before transferring to USC. During his single season with the Trojans, he showed off his versatility, playing 395 snaps at right guard, 318 at right tackle, and one at left tackle.
