Last season, Brock Purdy set a San Francisco 49ers single-season franchise record by throwing for 4,280 yards. Considering the Hall of Fame quarterbacks who have played for the organization, like Joe Montana and Steve Young, this is an impressive accomplishment.

Purdy led all NFL quarterbacks with a 113.0 passer rating last season, throwing for 31 touchdowns against 11 interceptions and averaging a league-leading 9.9 yards per attempt and 13.9 yards per catch.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Purdy is tied for the fifth-best odds to win NFL MVP honors during the upcoming season, with only Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, C.J. Stroud, and Joe Burrow having better odds. DraftKings has set Purdy's over/under for passing yards in the 2024 season at 3,900.5. If you believe Purdy will build on his 2023 campaign and deliver a similar performance this year, the over seems like a safe bet.

However, much of this will depend on whether the 49ers can sign Brandon Aiyuk to a contract extension or if the star wide receiver will play on his fifth-year option, avoiding any holdouts. Aiyuk and Purdy built strong chemistry last season, with Aiyuk amassing 1,342 receiving yards, most of which came from Purdy's passes.

In May, when asked about the importance of resolving the Aiyuk situation, Purdy stated, "I think it's extremely important. He's a playmaker, love throwing to him, love B.A. as a person. So, yeah, it's definitely important. I've said this before: it's out of my control. But for me, I'm showing up every day trying to get better with the new guys, and the guys that are here, and that is what it is. But hopefully, it gets settled soon."

Assuming Aiyuk is on the field with Purdy and the rest of the offense for Week 1, Purdy will have an array of playmaking weapons at his disposal. In addition to Aiyuk, he will have Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Jauan Jennings, and rookie Ricky Pearsall. This arsenal of talent poses a significant challenge for opposing defenses, setting Purdy up for another standout performance and bolstering the 49ers' championship aspirations.

What are your predictions for Purdy's statistics in 2024? Will he surpass 3,900.5 passing yards or fall short of that mark?
