The San Francisco 49ers officially welcomed their latest rookie draft class and undrafted free agents to their first training camp today. Rookies reported to Santa Clara, while veterans will arrive next week, on July 23.

NFL teams are gearing up for the start of the 2024 regular season. The 49ers selected wide receiver Ricky Pearsall with the No. 31 overall pick. The team also drafted cornerback Renardo Green, offensive lineman Dominick Puni, safety Malik Mustapha, running back Isaac Guerendo, wide receiver Jacob Cowing, offensive lineman Jarrett Kingston, and linebacker Tatum Bethune.

Each of San Francisco's eight draftees has been signed.

The eight undrafted free agents include wide receiver Terique Owens, son of Hall of Famer Terrell Owens, offensive lineman Drake Nugent, tight end Mason Pline, and quarterback Tanner Mordecai. Altogether, the 49ers roster has 16 rookies.

San Francisco recently released its schedule of 10 open training camp practices, with the first occurring on Thursday, July 25, at the SAP Performance Facility, located next to Levi's Stadium.

The 49ers will also hold joint practices with the New Orleans Saints at UC Irvine on August 15-16 before the two teams play each other in a preseason game on August 18 at Levi's Stadium. These practices will occur in Southern California because UC Irvine is better equipped to accommodate two NFL teams than the 49ers' practice facilities in Santa Clara.

"I don't like bringing teams here because we don't have as much land," head coach Kyle Shanahan explained. "We have two fields, and you kind of need a third field. And so I don't like how tight it is and stuff. It's just too tight out there, and it kind of messes our grass up for so long. It's better when you go to a place that has three, sometimes four, even five fields."
