The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of offensive lineman Pat Elflein to a one-year deal. To make room on the roster, the team waived offensive lineman Briason Mays. Elflein was one of three offensive linemen that the 49ers recently worked out.

The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.

Elflein (6-2, 303) was originally drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round (70th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. Elflein has appeared in 65 regular season games (64 starts) and started four postseason contests with the Vikings (2017-20), New York Jets (2020) and Carolina Panthers (2021-22). In his rookie season with the Vikings (2017), Elflein earned All-Rookie honors after starting 14 games at center.

A 30-year-old native of Pickerington, OH, Elflein attended Ohio State University (2012-16) where he played 55 games (42 starts). Elflein was a part of the Ohio State team that earned the 2014 College Football Playoff National Championship title and twice earned First-Team All-Big Ten Conference honors (2014-15).

Mays (6-4, 295) originally signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent on May 6.
