The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed offensive lineman Lewis Kidd to a one-year deal. To make room on the roster, the team placed offensive lineman Pat Elflein on the injured reserve list.

San Francisco signed Elflein on Friday, August 2. The offensive lineman joined his new teammates at practice that morning but suffered a calf injury.

The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.

Kidd (6-6, 311) originally entered the NFL after signing with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on May 16, 2022. Throughout his two-year NFL career (2022-23), he has appeared in 13 games (one start) with the Saints. Kidd was waived by New Orleans on August 29, 2023 and was later signed to the Indianapolis Colts practice squad on September 14, 2023. Following his release from the team on December 19, 2023, he signed a Reserve/Future contract with the Colts on January 9, 2024 and was later waived on July 31, 2024.

A 26-year-old native of Minneapolis, MN, Kidd attended Montana State University (2016-21) where he appeared in 54 games (48 starts) at guard and tackle.

Elflein (6-2, 303) originally signed with the 49ers on August 2.
