Garvin (6-4, 257) was originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Throughout his three-year NFL career with the Packers (2020-22), Garvin appeared in 38 games, with one start, and registered 32 tackles, two passes defended, and 1.5 sacks. Following his release from the Packers on July 28, 2023, Garvin spent time with the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League (USFL) where he registered 19 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
Harvin III (6-0, 255) was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Throughout his three-year NFL career with the Steelers (2021-23), he has appeared in 47 games and registered 217 punts for 9,473 yards (43.7 average). Harvin has also appeared in two postseason games and averaged 45.6 yards per punt. 49ers punter Mitch Wishnowsky is dealing with a knee issue and will not play in the team's first preseason game.
Bryant (6-5, 250) re-signed with the team on February 14, 2024, after spending 2023 with the team. He was expected to be part of the 49ers' defensive line rotation but sustained a hamstring injury on Wednesday. Because Bryant was placed on IR before the 53-man cutdown, his injury will cost him the 2024 season.
Thomas (6-6, 250) originally signed with the team on June 4, 2024. The hope was that Thomas would compete for the number two tight end role, but the veteran tight end has been dealing with a hamstring strain and has fallen in the depth chart. His release not only makes way for other signings but also allows Thomas to land with a new team.
