San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters ahead of Tuesday's practice, likely anticipating questions about the statuses of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and left tackle Trent Williams—a frequent topic whenever Shanahan addresses the media.

While Williams is pursuing a restructured deal, Aiyuk is seeking to become one of the NFL's highest-paid wide receivers. Although Aiyuk reported to training camp, he isn't practicing, while Williams is holding out entirely. Both players are expected to be key contributors to a 49ers team with Super Bowl aspirations.

Shanahan offered a simple two-word response when asked if there were any updates on the negotiations with the two star players.

"Zero updates. Nothing has changed," he said.

This has to be frustrating for fans eager to see this drawn-out situation resolved, especially with Week 1 rapidly approaching.

The 49ers will close out the preseason on Friday with a road game against the Las Vegas Raiders. After that, preparations will begin for the team's regular-season opener against the New York Jets on September 9.
