Notes
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is nursing a hamstring injury sustained at the end of the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and is expected to miss a couple of games.
Cornerback Charvarius Ward sat out Thursday's practice due to knee and hamstring issues. Defensive coordinator Nick Sorensen explained that Ward was experiencing some soreness, and his absence was a precautionary measure.
Tight end George Kittle is also dealing with a hamstring injury and has missed the last two practices of the week. He has not progressed well and is doubtful for Week 3.
"Him and Charvarius, they were sore after practice, like a number of guys are," head coach Kyle Shanahan said after Friday's practice. "They came in Thursday morning and were still sore, and it was still today with Kittle."
Defensive end Nick Bosa appeared on Thursday's injury report with a rib injury suffered during a one-on-one drill but has practiced every day since Wednesday in at least a limited capacity.
Safety Talanoa Hufanga has no game status designation, indicating he's set to make his season debut after recovering from an ACL injury suffered in November 2023.
Running back Christian McCaffrey remains on injured reserve, which made him ineligible for four games. He will miss two more matchups after Sunday's contest against the Rams, assuming he recovers from the Achilles tendinitis that has been troubling him.
Below are Friday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Rams, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
