Brandon Aiyuk is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL and MCL during Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 49ers have placed him on injured reserve. Jauan Jennings was sidelined due to a hip injury, and Deebo Samuel played just four snaps before being pulled from the game due to illness.
After the game, Samuel was hospitalized, with Shanahan later revealing that he was battling pneumonia. The receiver was released from the hospital on Tuesday.
Shanahan confirmed that neither Samuel nor Jennings will practice on Wednesday, the first of three practices scheduled for the week.
"[Samuel's] out of the hospital," Shanahan said. "He got in here yesterday. [He's] doing better than you'd expect with that stuff, and we'll see how he goes throughout the week."
When asked if Samuel has a chance to play on Sunday, Shanahan responded, "Yes."
The coach also revealed that tight end George Kittle is dealing with a foot injury and will miss Wednesday's practice. When asked if the injury might sideline Kittle for this weekend's game, Shanahan replied, "I hope not. But he can't go today."
Others who won't be practicing on Wednesday include kicker Jake Moody (ankle), defensive tackle Kevin Givens (groin), and safety George Odum (knee). Veteran tackle Trent Williams is also receiving the day off.
Wide receiver Chris Conley (ankle), defensive end Nick Bosa (elbow), and running back Jordan Mason (shoulder) are expected to be limited in practice.
