The 49ers have a 21-day window to activate McCaffrey off injured reserve, but there's a chance the running back could suit up as early as Sunday's game.
Second-year kicker Jake Moody, sidelined since Week 5 with a high-ankle sprain, also appears to have returned to practice.
McCaffrey has missed the entire season due to bilateral Achilles tendinitis. The 49ers officially opened his 21-day practice window, allowing them to activate him off injured reserve anytime within the next three weeks. McCaffrey could play as early as this Sunday, adding a significant playmaker to an offense looking for more consistency.
Jennings has missed the last two games with a hip injury. He has been an impactful player in the 49ers' lineup this season, hauling in 25 catches for 404 yards and three touchdowns through six games. Jennings' return would offer quarterback Brock Purdy another reliable target, especially with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk out for the season due to a torn ACL and MCL.
The 49ers will hold three more practices this week after today. They will be on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Both McCaffrey and Jennings could bolster the team's efforts to build on their 4-4 record and push toward the playoffs in the second half of the season.
