The San Francisco 49ers have signed defensive end Jonathan Garvin to the practice squad as they gear up for their Week 12 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Garvin was part of the roster in August and spent a couple of previous stints on the 49ers' practice squad before being released on October 24.

The move comes amid uncertainty surrounding defensive end Nick Bosa, who is managing a hip and oblique injury that could jeopardize his availability for the upcoming game.

The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.

Garvin (6-4, 257) was originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round (242nd overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Throughout his three-year NFL career with the Packers (2020-22), Garvin has appeared in 38 games (one start) and registered 32 tackles, two passes defensed and 1.5 sacks. Following his release from the Packers on July 28, 2023, Garvin spent time with the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League (USFL), where he registered 19 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Garvin most recently signed to the 49ers practice squad on October 2, 2024, and was released from the practice squad on October 24.

A 25-year-old native of Lake Worth Beach, FL, Garvin attended the University of Miami (2017-19), where he appeared in 38 games (24 starts) and registered 106 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, five passes defensed and four forced fumbles.
