Gross-Matos recorded four tackles and three sacks in the game. He was the only player in the NFL in Week 14 to notch three sacks and the sole NFC player to tally at least two sacks and three or more tackles.
This marks the first Defensive Player of the Week honor in Gross-Matos' career. He is just the second 49ers defensive lineman to receive the award since 2005, joining five-time recipient Nick Bosa.
Additionally, Gross-Matos is the fourth former Penn State defensive lineman to earn this distinction, joining Cameron Wake (three-time winner), Courtney Brown (two-time winner), and Bruce Clark (two-time winner).
Elsewhere in the league, former 49ers quarterback Sam Darnold, now with the Minnesota Vikings, was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week, while New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
