San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided key injury updates ahead of Wednesday's practice as the team prepares for its Week 16 road game against the Miami Dolphins.

Two notable absences from Wednesday's practice will be left tackle Trent Williams and running back Isaac Guerendo. Williams, dealing with an ankle injury, is increasingly unlikely to play again this season.

"If he could get back to healthy, we'd play him, but it's not like that right now," Shanahan said. "So it's getting closer to being that way."

The team's slim playoff hopes could also factor into the decision to hold Williams out, as there may be little benefit in rushing him back.

Guerendo, who played through a foot sprain last week against the Los Angeles Rams, is now sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained during the game.

In addition to Williams and Guerendo, several other 49ers will be limited in practice on Wednesday. They are defensive end Nick Bosa (hip, oblique), tackle Jaylon Moore (hip), safety Malik Mustapha (chest), linebacker Dre Greenlaw (Achilles, knee), and offensive lineman Nick Zakelj (illness).

The silver lining for Mustapha is that he is no longer listed with a shoulder injury. He did not suit up last week against the Rams.
