According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Guerendo is unlikely to suit up on Sunday when the 49ers face the Miami Dolphins.
The news is another blow to the 49ers' already depleted backfield. Guerendo had stepped up due to injuries sidelining several of the team's running backs. Christian McCaffrey remains out with a PCL injury, Jordan Mason is sidelined with a high-ankle sprain, and Elijah Mitchell hasn't played this season due to a hamstring injury.
Guerendo has averaged 5.2 yards per carry during his rookie campaign. He has totaled 381 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 73 attempts.
With Guerendo likely unavailable, the 49ers are expected to start Patrick Taylor at running back. The team also has Israel Abanikanda on the active roster and Ke'Shawn Vaughn available on the practice squad.
This marks yet another injury setback for a 49ers squad whose season has been marred by mounting personnel losses. The team will look to overcome its challenges when they face the Dolphins on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium.
