San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters via a conference call on Tuesday, providing an injury update on quarterback Brock Purdy.

"Brock Purdy had a right elbow contusion with nerve inflammation," Shanahan said. "Most likely going to miss this week (against the Arizona Cardinals), but no long-term issues. UCL looks fine."

Purdy exited Monday night's game against the Detroit Lions in the fourth quarter. After attempting to throw on the sidelines, he realized he could not continue, ending his night prematurely.

"On that sack, I got hit on the backside, and basically, just my arm was on fire kind of thing," Purdy explained after the game.

While the update on Purdy is a relief, Shanahan noted that he wasn't too concerned.

"I wasn't too worried about it just with information we had last night," Shanahan shared. "It was good to just hear the same thing today."

Purdy posted a career-high 377 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions against the Lions. This season, he has completed 65.9 percent of his passes for 3,864 yards, with 20 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and a 96.1 passer rating.

Other injury updates

Shanahan also shared the following additional injury updates from the game.

The coach added that offensive lineman Spencer Burford, who missed Monday night's game due to a calf injury, is unlikely to play in the season finale against the Cardinals.
