Griese joined head coach Kyle Shanahan's staff in 2022 after a successful stint as a broadcaster. Before his coaching and media career, he spent 11 seasons as an NFL quarterback, having been drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 1998 draft.
The Jets are casting a wide net in their search for a new head coach. They are reportedly interviewing former Jets head coach Rex Ryan and former Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera.
This coaching search comes after the Jets parted ways with head coach Robert Saleh midseason and fired general manager Joe Douglas in November.
Meanwhile, the 49ers are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 6-11 campaign that saw them miss the playoffs for the first time since 2020, following their Super Bowl appearance the season prior.
