NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports that the Jacksonville Jaguars have requested to interview San Francisco 49ers director of scouting and football operations, Josh Williams, for their vacant general manager position.

Williams recently completed his 14th season with the 49ers and his first in his current role. He previously served as a national scout (2022-23), area scout (2017-21), and national football scouting representative (2016) for the team.

Williams joined the 49ers in 2011 as a scouting assistant before being promoted to pro personnel scout in 2013, a role he held for three seasons.

In December, Williams participated in the NFL's Front Office and General Manager Accelerator Program in Irving, Texas. The program is part of the league's commitment to developing talent.

The Jaguars fired general manager Trent Baalke on January 22, shortly before hiring former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen as their new head coach.
