The University at Buffalo held its Pro Day on Thursday, March 13, with quarterback C.J. Ogbonna drawing interest from several teams ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, according to The Draft Network's Ryan Fowler.

Fowler reports that the San Francisco 49ers were among the teams that individually spoke with Ogbonna at the event.

Ogbonna (6-2, 207) was not among the quarterbacks invited to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. However, Fowler notes that the signal-caller impressed the scouts on hand with a strong performance during the Pro Day.

Ogbonna transferred from Southeast Missouri State in 2023 but saw limited action that season, attempting just 21 passes (one of which resulted in a touchdown) but rushing 51 times for 214 yards and three touchdowns.

He emerged as Buffalo's starter in 2024, completing 190 of 336 pass attempts for 2,381 yards, 19 touchdowns, and five interceptions in 13 starts. He also added 343 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 123 carries.

The 49ers may be considering adding a quarterback to their practice squad. Their active roster seems set with Brock Purdy, newcomer Mac Jones, and possibly second-year player Tanner Mordecai rounding out the group.
