Membou has become a popular first-round projection for the 49ers, who need to bolster their offensive line while preparing for life after future Hall of Famer Trent Williams. For now, Kosko views Membou as an immediate upgrade on the right side.
"A road-grading right tackle, Membou dominated in his final college season with a 90.6 PFF overall grade," Kosko wrote. "He excelled in pass protection, earning an 82.2 PFF pass-blocking grade on true pass sets and an 87.4 zone PFF pass-blocking grade. Membou's range on reach blocks is exceptional and should fit Kyle Shanahan's varied run scheme."
Membou is the second offensive lineman off the board in Kosko's mock draft, following LSU tackle Will Campbell, who is projected to go to the New England Patriots at No. 4.
With several key departures in free agency, the 49ers could go in many directions with their top pick. However, investing in the offensive line would be smart, especially with the team preparing to extend quarterback Brock Purdy with a massive contract.
Membou's draft stock is rising after an impressive showing at the NFL Scouting Combine, where the 332-pound lineman posted a 4.91-second 40-yard dash, a 9-foot-7 broad jump, and a 34-inch vertical jump.
A two-year starter at Missouri, Membou allowed just eight pressures over 411 pass-blocking snaps in 2024 and didn't surrender a single sack. He could be a long-term solution to anchor the 49ers' offensive line.
