At No. 11, ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller projected the San Francisco 49ers to select LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell, a player increasingly linked to the team as the draft nears.
"Addressing the offensive line and planning for 36-year-old Trent Williams' eventual retirement with Campbell would be a win-win for the 49ers' front office," Miller wrote. "Overall, hitting on picks in this draft class is imperative to reloading the roster after it was depleted through free agency."
Campbell was the second offensive lineman selected in ESPN's mini mock draft, with the New York Jets projected to take Missouri's Armand Membou at No. 7.
Once considered unlikely to be available at No. 11, Campbell's stock dipped slightly following his measurements at the NFL Scouting Combine, where his arm length came in just under 33 inches. However, at 6-foot-6 and 319 pounds, he possesses many traits that should excite the 49ers' front office.
NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter also recently mocked Campbell to the 49ers at No. 11, noting that while he could begin his career at guard, he has the potential to transition to tackle in the future.
"Campbell's relatively short arms (32 5/8 inches) and narrow frame (77 3/8-inch wingspan) may push him inside at the next level, but the 49ers are thrilled to see him available here to challenge for the open left guard spot," Reuter explained. "Like the Colts' Braden Smith and others, Campbell may eventually get the chance to prove himself outside to replace Trent Williams or Colton McKivitz."
In 2024, Campbell earned a career-high 80.6 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus, allowing just two sacks and 18 pressures over 558 pass-blocking snaps. However, his 69.7 run-blocking grade—a career low—might be a concern. Still, with offensive line coach Chris Foerster's guidance, he has the potential to develop into a strong all-around player.
