One league source told FOX Sports insider Jordan Schultz that "there's not a rush" to get a deal done. While an agreement could come before next month's draft, the 49ers still have time to work out details before players return to the practice field after the event.

"For me, I want to, obviously, get it done," Purdy said in January. "If that's an opportunity to be able to get that done quick, that'd be great, just so we can get back for phase one, get after it with the receivers and our team, and just continue to grow because we've all gotta grow together."
Purdy's market value has been widely debated. The 49ers are coming off a disappointing 6-11 season, and his production dipped from his record-breaking performance in 2023 due to injuries taking away many of his offensive playmakers.
"Earlier in the 2024 season, it seemed possible that Purdy could surpass Dak Prescott's $60 million annual clip with the Cowboys if he had another stellar campaign and deep playoff run," Schultz wrote. "While that now seems less likely, multiple sources insist that Purdy could still land 'anywhere from $50-55 million, or potentially more.'"
The 49ers have a history of prolonged contract negotiations, something they hope to avoid with their starting quarterback.
One current general manager told Schultz that 49ers GM John Lynch is likely eager to finalize a deal, especially after a disappointing 2024 season and significant offseason roster changes. Another drawn-out contract battle might not sit well with the organization or fans.
Could Purdy be willing to offer the 49ers a hometown discount?
"Perhaps a little," the GM told Schultz. "But Purdy's getting paid, that's a fact. The benefit the 49ers have is that he's been playing on a very team-friendly deal, so maybe he takes a little less to lock in long-term security."
These negotiations will remain a hot topic until a resolution is reached.
