"Once the 49ers pay that bonus, any trade talks for Aiyuk would be off, and he would be expected to spend the 2025 season in San Francisco," ESPN's Adam Schefter wrote on social media Sunday morning.
Last week, Schefter stated that despite other reports about multiple teams inquiring about Aiyuk, there has been little significant trade interest. The combination of his high salary and recovery from a torn ACL and MCL injuries sustained in October has dampened trade discussions. Aiyuk is not expected to be ready for the start of the season, and Schefter suggests his return may not come until mid-season.
Still, if a trade were to happen, it would likely need to occur before Tuesday's deadline.
"So Tuesday looms as Aiyuk's unofficial trade deadline, and no deal currently is expected by then," Schefter added.
