Hawes is the third known tight end the 49ers are hosting for a pre-draft visit, joining Jalin Conyers (Texas Tech) and Harold Fannin Jr. (Bowling Green).
In 2024, Hawes recorded 16 receptions for 195 yards over 12 games, per Sports Reference. It was his lone season with the Yellow Jackets after transferring from Yale.
While his receiving stats may not stand out, Hawes has established himself as a strong blocker. He earned a 74.9 pass-blocking grade and a 74.7 run-blocking grade last season, allowing just one pressure over 62 pass-blocking snaps.
All-Pro George Kittle remains atop San Francisco's tight end depth chart, and the team recently added Luke Farrell. However, they may continue to bolster the position group, which also includes Mason Pline, Jake Tonges, and Brayden Willis.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, the nearly 6-foot-5, 253-pound Hawes ran a 4.82-second 40-yard dash, recorded a 34.5-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-1 broad jump, and completed 16 reps on the bench press.
