According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Seattle Seahawks are considering signing wide receiver Brandon Marshall (Broncos) to an offer sheet. This is of interest to the 49ers since the Seahawks are within their division and San Francisco would have to face Marshall twice a year during the regular season.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Bears are close to signing defensive end Julius Peppers (Panthers) to what is expected to be a six-year deal worth $12-$14 million a season with the first three years guaranteed.

Schefter also reports that the Chicago Bears have signed free-agent running back Chester Taylor (Vikings) to a four-year deal worth $12.5 million. Taylor will receive $7 million guaranteed in the first year of the contract.

ESPN.com also reports that the New York Jets have released CB Donald Strickland.
