According to Scout.com, Carolina Panthers running back DeShaun Foster, who will become an unrestricted free agent, may be interested in playing for the San Francisco 49ers.

Foster, the former UCLA Bruin, has expressed an interest in returning to the west coast. The Panthers will likely try to resign him, but are not looking to spend too much on a player that has finished three of four seasons on injured reserve. The Panthers' 2004 second round pick, Eric Shelton, has performed well when called upon and this may influence the team to not spend so much when trying to resign Foster.

Foster has had 1563 career yards in four seasons averaging 4.1 yards per carry. His best year was last season when he gained 879 yards on the ground before suffering a broken ankle in a divisional playoff loss to Chicago.
